William Burks Obituary
William David Burks was born March 19, 1936, in Savannah, Tennessee. He was the son of Oscar Burks and Lola Alma Simpson Burks.
He departed this life at his home in Kennett, Missouri on January 23, 2022. He was 85 years old.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War.
David was united in marriage on September 9, 1961 in New Madrid, Missouri to Margaret Hazel Kennedy. She preceded him in death in 1995.
David worked in the service department for Ford Motor in Kennett for many years along with owning a service station and tire shop in Caruthersville. He loved working on cars.
He attended the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons: Michael Burks of Caruthersville, Missouri, Richard Burks of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, & Shawn Burks of Kennett, Missouri; three daughters: Carol Parson of Springfield, Missouri, Sandra Flores of Paris, Tennessee, & Joyce Torres of Memphis, Tennessee; other relatives including grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sons - William Burks and Kenneth Burks.
Graveside services were held on January 26th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. James Adams officiating in Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
