Terry Maxwell Wilson

Terry Maxwell Wilson was born in Senath, Missouri on March 16, 1936. Terry was the son of the late Hubert Wilson & Edna Wilson Betor. 

He departed this life in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 13, 2026, at the age of 89.

He attended Caruthersville schools, graduating in the High School Class of 1954. He then went to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where he received his Bachelor's Degree and also played on the golf team. 

Terry worked as a State Farm Agent for 50 years, achieving the Lifetime President's Club and was in the top 50 Agents in the entire company for 10 years. He enjoyed being an Agent very much and often mentioned how grateful he was to Ed McClary for hiring him and believing in him.

He was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon & Elder for many years. 

Terry was also very involved in the Caruthersville community, even serving as Mayor. 

He loved all animals and had them his entire life. He always said he never understood people who didn't like animals because all they want is to make us happy. 

He was an avid golfer, winning the club championship numerous times. He enjoyed all sports, especially his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and the University of Missouri teams, watching them religiously.

After his wife, Becky, passed away in 2017 Terry relocated to Tulsa, OK.  The people at Inverness, where he resided loved him and described him as a true “Southern Gentleman”.

Terry is survived by one son: Thad Wilson & his wife, Steph; one daughter: Amy Beth Hastings & her husband, Greg; four grandchildren: Taylor Wilson & his wife, Danielle, Madeline Wilson, Avery Hastings, and Miller Hastings; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Senath Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Caruthersville Presbyterian Church or the Caruthersville Humane Society.
