Terre Kay Pierce, age 65, formerly of Caruthersville, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born in Hayti, Missouri, on February 6, 1958, to the late John F. and Maxine Robertson Pierce of Caruthersville.
Terre spent most of her life in Caruthersville working as an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Caruthersville Nursing Home and other clinics in the area. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandsons, gardening, sewing, her dogs, and reading. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Caruthersville, Missouri.
She is survived by her daughters: Jamie (Denver) Buchanan of San Antonio, Texas, and Emily Taylor of Springfield, Missouri; and grandsons: Atlas and Cy Buchanan of San Antonio. Terre is also survived by her sister: Lea Ann Frizzell; her brother: Michael Pierce; her uncle: Don (Lori) Robertson; cousins: Beth (Rodney) Pyle, Michael Robertson, and Carly Robertson; along with other family members and friends.
As a nurse for most of her life, it was Terre's wish to help further the advancements of medicine through education and research by donating her body at the time of her death. Terre made her donation to the Genesis Whole Body Donation Program through the Medical Education and Research Institute (MERI) in Memphis, Tennessee. She wanted to make the ultimate gift that would benefit medical science for her children, grandchildren and beyond. By making this donation she left a legacy of helping those in need, supporting the medical community, and positively impacting the lives of many people for years to come.
Now that the donation process is complete, her family has planned a memorial service for Terre at H.S. Smith Funeral home. Although the timing of this service is different from the timing of most funerals, her family has patiently waited to gather for her memorial in order to honor her final wishes by waiting for the completion of her donation process.
Her family would like to invite you to her memorial service to be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm at H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Dr. James Adams officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service.
Donations in Terre's memory may be made to Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri -- Home Repair Program, 424 E Monastery St, Springfield, MO 65807, or the Caruthersville Humane Society.
