Shirley Williams Obituary

Shirley Madge Williams was born November 16, 1936, in Paris, Tennessee.  She was the daughter of Ira Howard Williams and Madge Townsend Williams.

She departed this life, surrounded by her family, at her home in Caruthersville, Missouri, on February 3, 2025.  She was 88 years old.

Shirley was married to Mr. Jimmy Harmon and they were parents to 4 sons.  She later married Mr. Les Williams.  They both preceded her in death.

She was a hard worker and had several different jobs – she worked at Brown Shoe, the Casanova, the Chaparral, and U.S. Supply.  Some of her best work and probably hardest, came as a military wife and mother to her four boys.

Shirley loved life and loved living it to the fullest.  She was always ready for laugher and fun.  Cooking was one of the things that she enjoyed and teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her passion.  She loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  To the grandkids and greats, she was known as “Momma Shirley.”

She was a faithful member of Caruthersville Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by four sons: Johnny Howard Harmon (Ann) of Caruthersville, MO, James Michael Harmon (Angie) of Caruthersville, MO, Jerry Wayne Harmon (Mairianne) of Caruthersville, MO, and Dennis Ryan Harmon of Caruthersville, MO; one sister-in-law who she considered a sister: Louise Lee; one brother-in-law: Jack Harmon (Ann); seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a niece; nephew; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Ira and Madge Williams, her husband – Les Williams, her brother – Carl Howard Williams, and a grandson – Derrick Lancaster.
