Ronald Lee (Ronnie) Smith was born in Hayti, Missouri, on May 24, 1957. He was the son of Leonard Smith and Joe Kay Willson Smith.
He departed this life on August 4, 2024, in Caruthersville, Missouri. He was 67 years old.
Ronnie loved anything that dealt with the outdoors, animals or plants. He lived in Arizona for awhile and was known as "Cowboy" to everyone there. He loved the mountains and the desert. At one time he even had a pet raccoon. Once he was back in Caruthersville, he loved spending time at the Mississippi River.
Ronnie was a collector of antiques. He loved using an iron skillet to cook with.
In 2007, Ronnie got clean and sober and was very proud of that fact. He begin reading and studying the Bible every day.
He is survived by three children: Charles Smith, Tracy Sanders, & Kevin Smith; eight siblings: Joan Musgrave, Sherry Wilson, Ray Smith, Charles Smith, Linda Smith, Pam Barham, Judy Greenway, & Teresa VanDyke; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; an aunt: Sue White; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Leonard and Joe Kay Smith, and two sons - Ronald Lee Smith Jr. and Gary Wayne Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Chapel with Reverend Richard Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.
