Robert Koontz, Jr. Obituary

Robert Gaylord Koontz, Jr

On Monday, October 26, 2020, Robert Gaylord Koontz, Jr., loving son and father, passed away near his home of Blytheville, Arkansas at the age of 57. Rob was born on January 21, 1963, in Hayti, Missouri, to Bob and Wanda (Danley) Koontz. He attended school in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and went to Devry University in Kansas City, Missouri. Rob was employed for 18 years in the steel industry, working at the Hickman Steel Mill in Blytheville, Arkansas.

Rob's fatherhood and relationships in general were marked by his complete devotion to those he loved. Rob was always willing to share his good common sense and wisdom when needed, as well as an amazing quick wit. At his very essence Rob was a true caregiver. He was unfailingly supportive, always there to help with a joke at hand, a broad smile on his face, and some good food on the table. In his spare time, Rob enjoyed many activities such as shooting guns, riding his Harley, fishing, building computers, cooking (mashed potatoes and barbecue were his specialty), and watching football.

Rob is survived by his daughters - Sonya Weddington, Lavonda Fisher, and Christina Helm, and grandchildren - Bane Weddington, Gracen Weddington, Kaleigh Fisher, Larry Fisher - as well as siblings - Phillip Johnson of Kansas City, MO, Garnetta Johnson of Fayetteville, NC, and Twila Russ of Maumelle, AR. Rob also leaves behind a group of loving nieces (2) and nephews (6). He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bob, and his mother, Wanda.
