Reuben McCoin Obituary

Reuben Henry (R.H.) McCoin was born June 29, 1928, in Gainesboro, Tennessee. He was the son of Reuben Henry McCoin and Martha Roberts McCoin.

He departed this life in Dyersburg, Tennessee on September 12, 2022. He was 94 years old.

R.H. graduated from Jackson County Central High School and then attended Tenn-Polytechnic Institute in Cookeville, TN where he received his Bachelor of Science. He attended Peabody College where he got his Masters with a Specialist in Educataion.

On August 19, 1949, in Lebanon, Tennessee, he was united in marriage to Frances Thorne. They celebrated 71 years of marriage.

R.H. proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He transferred to the reserves after his active duty. He retired from the reserves as a Captain.

The McCoins moved to Caruthersville in 1978 to begin working for the Caruthersville School system. R.H. taught upper level science courses at the high school, became high school principal and then the curriculum director.

R.H. and Frances loved travelling. They visited all 50 states, all the Canadian providences and many other parts of the world.

He was a faithful and active member of the Central Church of Christ.

He is survived by one daughter: Debbie McCoin Hayden of Caruthersville, MO; one grandson: Christopher Michael Holland (Meagan) of Marion, IL; three great grandsons: Liam, Connor, and Miles Reuben Holland; two brothers: Bob McCoin of Livingston, TN and Doug McCoin of Tennessee; one sister: Charlene Kozy of Mt. Juliet, TN; other relatives including four nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a niece - Kathleen McCoin.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022, at Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Brother Mike McDaniel officiating. Interment was in Maple cemetery with military honors.
