Phyllis Odessa Chessor, 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at Ascension St. Thomas Hospital - Midtown, after several months of sickness. She was born January 1, 1949, in Caruthersville, Missouri, at home to Otis Alvie Hardy and Odessa Marie Gallaher Hardy. Phyllis was the first of three children.
Phyllis was a loving mother and grandmother who did her best to meet the needs of her family. She spent most of her working years as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed reading, watching a good movie, spending time outdoors, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with family. She attended World Outreach Church of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sisters: Frances Grady and Melinda Hardy; two nephews: Gary Grady and Paul Hardy; four children: Angela Schneider of Christiana, TN, Craig Foster (Vickie) of Smyrna, TN, Michael Foster of Saucier, MS, and Desire’ Chessor of Centerville, TN. Her grandchildren include Candace Valverde, Seth Foster, Hannah Foster, Deklan Foster, Breanna Chessor, Kyndal Williams, and Lacy Williams.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:30 pm at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Pastor Wesley Waddle oļ¬ciating.
