Patricia Jane (Patti) Ownby was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on March 28, 1953.
She departed this life in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on February 18, 2024. She was 70.
Patti grew up in Caruthersville, Missouri. She graduated Caruthersville High School with the class of 1971.
Patti was a lifelong member of United Methodist Church.
She moved to Chicago, Illinois, and found work as a bartender. She was very good at her job and loved it. Her customers loved her. She enjoyed traveling with her cousins. Hawaii was one of her favorite places.
Patti loved collecting cows, the Kansas City Chiefs (although Peyton Manning was her favorite), and she was also a St. Louis Cardinal fan despite living in Chicago. After 40 years of bartending, she retired and moved back to Caruthersville. She moved in with her cousin, Brenda Collins, and became involved in city life, becoming a member of the Library Board.
She is survived by two nieces: Melissa Lowery (Andy) of Los Angeles, California, & Christina Ownby of Los Angeles, California; great niece: Josephina Lowery; great nephew: Christopher Lowery of Los Angeles, California; her sister-in-law: Josie Ownby of Los Angeles, California; her best friend: Maureen Haralamos of Darien, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents - Rex and Juanita Ownby, and her brother - Michael Ownby.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Carl Knapp officiating. Inurnment will follow in Little Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
