Michael Thomas Trainor was born in Highland Park, Illinois, on September 13, 1950. He was the son of Wilbur Trainor and Frances Johnson Trainor.
He departed this life in Jackson, Tennessee, on October 13, 2025. He was 75 years old.
After completing high school, Mike proudly joined the United States Navy. During his service, he worked as aircraft mechanic and received the National Defense Service Medal. He received his honorable discharge on December 10, 1975.
On April 14, 1973, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis, Tennessee, he was united in marriage to Jean Hardesty. They celebrated 52 years of marriage.
In 1980, Mike and Jean opened Little Pizza Heaven in Caruthersville, Missouri. This was not just a "pizza" place but was known all around Southeast Missouri as the place to go for great pizza, good conversation and lots of laughs. Mike made many specialty pizzas for local citizens. In addition to pizza, Mike became known for his dessert - Mississippi Mud Cake.
Mike loved his golf group - The Contenders. He also enjoyed reading and was a huge Cubs fan.
His greatest joy was his family and the time spent with them.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
He is survived by his wife: Jean Trainor of Caruthersville, Missouri; one son: Matthew Trainor of Caruthersville, Missouri; one daughter: Amanda Patrick of Falls Church, Virigina; one sister: Maggie Luallen of Osseo, Wisconsin; one brother: Dennis Trainor of Woodstock, Illinois; three granddaughters: Lillian, Clara, and Miriam; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Father Suresh Samala officiating. Interment to follow in Maple Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary starts at 7:00 p.m.
The family request that memorials be given to Caruthersville Public Library or Sacred Heart Church.
