Michael Lajuan Jones was born August 8, 1986, to Michael Jones and Lee Dora Grant in Hayti, Missouri. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in Mt. Morris, Michigan, with the class of 2005. He played football, basketball and track while in high school. He served in the United States Navy from 2007-2012. He received The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Service Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and received two bronze stars during his deployment. Michael was deployed three times, once in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. He received an Associate Degree in Science in Applied Technology in 2014. Michael loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Georgia Bulldogs. He was full of laughter, jokes, and his smile would brighten any room. He was a gamer, loved cars and motorcycles (he had a need for speed). He was also a truck driver and a Mental Health Technician. He loved and cherished his family and his dog, "Romeo."
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Willie Earl Jones, and John Eddie (Jack) Taylor; aunts, Rose Mary Grant and Mae Helen Smith; uncles, Robert Earl Grant, and Willie Lee Jones; cousins, Vincent Bernard Grant, Marcus Darnell McFarland, and Michael Lynn Leatherwood, Jr.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories, mother, Lee Dora Grant (Eugene Brown) of Flint, MI; father, Michael (Loretta) Jones of Evans, GA, brothers, Herschel (Nicole) Grant of Hayti, MO and Herbert Jones of Evans, GA,; sisters, Ebony Grant of Flint, MI and Ericka (Milton) Childs of Phoenix, AZ; two beautiful grandmothers, Lexie Dora Taylor of West Memphis, AR and Pearline Jones of Cape Girardeau, MO; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends that loved him dearly.
Funeral services were held August 20th, 2022, with Pastor Gregory Chauncey officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Morgan Ridge Cemetery. H. S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
