Melanie Emery Obituary

Melanie Marie Emery was born in Paragould, Arkansas, on August 6, 1974. She was the daughter of James Alvin Smith and Freda Jeanette Floyd Smith.

She departed this life at her home in Caruthersville, Missouri, on March 3, 2025. She was 50 years old.

Melanie was a people person. She truly gave of herself to help others every single day. She treasured family time. Every Sunday was her day gathering the family together with food, fun and laughter. Her absolute favorite name was "Nana". That is who she was to her eight grandchildren.

She worked hard at her job at Genesis In Home Care.

She is survived by her three children: Trevor Smith and his wife, Rebecca, Josh Emery, and Mallory Emery; eight grandchildren: Korralyne Smith, Althea Smith, Madelyn Emery, Emmaleigh Emery, Hudson Emery, Kensley Emery, Amelia Patrick, and Conor Patick; and many other relatives including nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the H.S. Smith Chapel with Reverend Kenny Lee officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Missouri. 

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.
