Mary Leek Obituary
Mary Betty Leek was born June 21, 1943, in Caruthersville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Grover C. Lafferty and Joyce Turnbow Lafferty.
She departed this life in Wynne, Arkansas on January 5, 2021. She was 77 years old.
Betty attended Caruthersville High School graduating with the class of 1961.
On November 23, 1962 she was united in marriage at the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church to Mr. Jimmy Leek. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Betty loved playing the piano. She began playing for Kinfolks Ridge church when she was 12 years old and continued for 54 years. Betty also was an excellent barrel horse rider. She also had a love of dogs. Her constant companion for the last several years has been her dog - Mylie.
Survived by - her husband - Jimmy Leek - Wynne, Arkansas
1 daughter - Kim Matthews and her husband, Terris - Wynne, Arkansas
2 granddaughters - Jaylie and Taycie Matthews
3 sister-in-laws - Sissy Lafferty, Shirley Powell, Mitzi Leek
A special niece - Courtney Lafferty
Other relatives and many friends
She was preceded in death by her parents - Grover and Joyce Lafferty and her brother - Billy Wayne Lafferty.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Tracy Wilson officiating. Interment was in Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri.
Pall bearers: Dusty Pike, Bobby Pike, Justin Sullivan, Tyler Sullivan, Speedy Powell, & Tony Powell.
