Johnnie Lea (Hood) Newton

Johnnie Lea Newton was born in Caruthersville, Missouri, on July 1, 1953.  She was the daughter of John L. Hood and Cora L. Hood.

She departed this life at her home in Sikeston, Missouri, on September 5, 2024.  She was 71 years old.

Johnnie attended school in Caruthersville. 

On August 14, 1970, in Caruthersville, she was united in marriage to Ronald Dale Newton.  He preceded her in death.

Johnnie worked in the grocery store business for many years as both a clerk and bookkeeper.

She is survived by one son: Michael Newton of Sikeston, Missouri; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Graveside memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Little Prairie Cemetery.
