John Figgins Obituary

John Harvey Figgins was born in Benton, Missouri on November 4, 1936. He departed this life in Cookeville, Tennessee on February 22, 2022, at the age of 85. He was the son of the late Knox Figgins and Velma Robinson Figgins.

He attended the Caruthersville Schools, graduating in the High School Class of 1954. John was a Veteran, having enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1959.

On September 8, 1969 in Florence, Alabama, he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Alexander. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2015.

He was a partner in owning & operating Knox's Drive Inn for over 35 years. He later opened The Barbecue Place in Braggadocio, Missouri in 1994 and ran it until his retirement in 2001.

John was a loving Father & Grandfather and very family oriented. He enjoyed reading, wood working, barbecuing, helping his wife with baking cakes and Cardinal Baseball.

He is survived by 3 Sons: Daniel Paul Figgins of Wappapello, Missouri, John Lee Figgins of Smithville, Tennessee, & Bobby Alexander Figgins, also of Smithville; two grandchildren: Daniel Paul Figgins, Jr. of Paragould, Arkansas & Erica Long of Cardwell, Missouri; three great Grandchildren: Lathan Spears of Cardwell, Missouri, Daniel Parker Figgins of Paragould, Arkansas, & Hunter Knox Figgins of Paragould, Arkansas; one brother: Chris Figgins of Augusta, Georgia; one sister: Debbie Mitchell of Dalton, Georgia; and a number of other relatives and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by one brother: Robert Figgins; and two sisters: Hazel Manley & Helen Meek.

Funeral services were held February 26th, 2022, with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
