Joe Frank Parrott was born in Hardin County, Tennessee, on April 2, 1932. He was the son of James Andrew Parrott and Elsie Leora Hollingworth Parrott.
He departed this life at John J. Pershing Veterans Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on February 22, 2026. He was 93 years old.
On June 16, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Geneva Holland. She was the love of his life and they were happily married for 69 years. She preceded him in death.
On November 14, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was inducted into the United States Army.
He transferred to the Army Reserve where he served for 8 years. During his time of service he received a Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal, ROX Presidential Unit Citation, and Good Conduct Medal.
Joe was a very humble man. He was known for his gentle patient spirit. Everyone he met was treated with the same dignity.
In 1964, he was baptized at the Tyler Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a member of the Gideons. He truly loved the Lord.
He is survived by one son: Larry Parrott; one daughter: Linda Webster; one grandson; three great grandchildren; one great grandchild; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel with Brother Troy Alley officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.
