Joe Willie Bowens was born March 8, 1953, in Caruthersville, Missouri, to the late Myrtle and Lewis Bowens, Sr.
Joe confessed a Hope in Christ at an early age. He graduated from Caruthersville High School, enlisted in the United States Army in 1972, and proudly served his country until 1978. "A veteran gone home."
Joe Willie Bowens departed this life on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at his home at the age of 68 years old. Gone but not forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Myrtle and Lewis Bowens, Sr.; three brothers: Lewis Bowens, Jr., Lee Junior Bowens, & Jackie Bowens; two sisters: Dorothy Versey & Lorrine Bowens; and one nephew: Joseph Bowens.
Joe leaves to cherish his memories one brother, Esker Bowens. Sharing the good and hard times of his life, his niece: Joyce Houston; nephews: Anthony Bowens, Johnny Ray Bowens, Lamoines Bowens, & Kevin Bowens; great niece: Shonnon Gipson; great nephew: Adrian Houston; honorary sister: Demethers Truss and her family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
