James Nelson (Jim) McClanahan was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 12, 1942. He was the son of John B. McClanahan and Mary D. McClanahan.
Jim passed away on June 16, 2026, in Kennett, Missouri. He was 84 years old.
On June 2, 1975, in Caruthersville, Missouri, Jim was united in marriage to Linda Taylor. They celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Jim had many hobbies. He loved traveling. His last big trip was driving to Fairbanks, Alaska, in his motorhome along with Linda and three dogs. He was a talented artist, especially metal work.
Jim was certainly a “one of a kind” man. He always did things his way.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Taylor McClanahan; his sister: Jennifer Pierce; a sister-in-law: Jackie Taylor Thompson; his two grandchildren: William Patrick Jamison and Mia Juliana Jamison; four nephews: Jeff, Baker, Jay, and Tim; two nieces: Jamie and Julie; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter – Ana Maria McClanahan Jamison, a brother – Johnny, a sister – Judy, a brother-in-law – Ricky Thompson, and a sister-in-law – Martha McClanahan.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel with Brother John Earl Dunavant officiating. Interment will follow in Little Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
