James Franklin (Frank) McCoy was born in Caruthersville, Missouri, on March 27, 1943. He was the son of Eugene McCoy and Ruth London McCoy.
He departed this life at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 29, 2025. He was 82 years old.
On October 5, 1963, at the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Alice Young. They celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Frank believed in the value of family. He loved being “Grandfather” to his grandchildren and great grandchild. He also loved to travel. Some of the places included Italy, Ireland, Canada, Poland and the Bahamas. He enjoyed turkey and deer hunting each year with his brothers. He and Keith enjoyed going to Alaska salmon fishing and to Cabo blue marlin fishing.
Frank never went to bed without kissing Alice goodnight and telling her he loved her!
He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church.
He is survived by his wife: Alice McCoy; three children: Vickie Carter, and her husband, Joel, Keith McCoy, and Kathleen McCoy; four grandchildren: Brenton Carter, Alexandra Campbell and her husband, Steven, Morgan Stansell, and Jaymeson Houston; one great grandson: Liam James Campbell; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven siblings – Keith, Ronnie, Talmadge, Larry, Bobby, Ruth Ellen, Mike, and Charles and an infant son.
Funeral mass with be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow in Maple Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at H.S. Smith Chapel from 4-7 p.m.. The rosary will begin at 4 p.m.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to The Mothers House (Glen Mary Sisters, P.O. Box 22264, Owensboro, KY 42304).
