J.D. Hudgens was born in Alabama on February 27, 1950. He was the son of Rufus Cecil Hudgens and Minnie O. Husley Hudgens.
He departed this life at his home in Caruthersville, Missouri, on August 24, 2024. He was 74 years old.
In 1969, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country.
On February 23, 1971, in Caruthersville, J.D. was united in marriage to Glenda Faye Moore. They celebrated 53 years of marriage.
J.D. was a hard worker. He was an expert at concrete work. He was a man that never met a stranger.
He always enjoyed going fishing and hunting.
He was a faithful member of Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, bus driver, and Sunday school teacher, but his greatest joy was working in the children's ministery.
He is survived by his wife: Glenda Hudgens of Caruthersville, MO; three sons: Jerry D. Hudgens and his wife, Kay, of Caruthersville, MO, J.D. Hudgens, Jr. and his wife, Sherri, of Caruthersville, MO, and Jeffery D. Hudgens and his wife, Angela, of Caruthersville, MO; one daughter: Amanda G. Campbell and her husband, Greg, of Caruthersville, MO; one brother: Tommy Hudgens and his wife, Sharon, of Palestine, Texas; one sister: Zera Coleman of Caruthersville, MO; eight grandchildren: Kasey Thomas, Jerry Hudgens Jr., Jonathan Hudgens, Justin Hudgens, Joshua Hudgens, Christopher Hudgens, Brent Ayers, & Bobby Ayers; eleven great grandchildren: Kellijo Hudgens, Jared Hudgens, Madi Hudgens, Jon David Hudgens, Rhett Hudgens, Raelynn Thomas, Brilyn Thomas, Rogen Thomas, Harlee Hudgens, Maverick Witt, & Ace Hudgens; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Brother Gary Mann and Brother Jim Pilcher officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Maple Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.
