Harold Eugene Cecil, age 60, of Caruthersville, Missouri, passed away on June 18, 2022. Born on November 27, 1961, in Hayti, Missouri, he was the son of the late Charles and Dainie Cecil.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Cecil, Jr. He is survived by his siblings Mary Speiedel and Joseph Cecil; his children Ryan (Alicia) Gill, Rinda Graham, Adam Cecil and Gena (Nick) Porta; and his grandchildren Alex, Jacob, Camden, Dylan, Kortlan, Rylan, Adalyn, Melanie, Amelia and Maxwell.
Eugene was a hard worker and a loyal employee. He worked at Piggly Wiggly as a meat cutter for 18 years before working for Nucor for 16 years. He lost his lower leg in a work accident in 2004 and he quietly suffered from chronic and persistent pain since the injury.
He was a loving father and grandfather. Eugene loved the outdoors; camping with his family at Alley Springs, hunting with his son Adam, and fishing with is friend Danny. He was an avid Cardinals baseball and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed stock car racing and drove the Flaming 8 car for years. Most of all, Eugene loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He loved playing card games with his granddaughter Melanie and seeing his grandchildren having fun playing together.
Memorial services were held Friday, June 24th, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the H.S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri. H. S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
