Miss Gloria Jean Black was born October 18, 1954, to the late Pearline Anderson Nichols and Robert Lee Black, Sr., in Tunica, Mississippi.
Gloria was preceded in death by: three daughters – Barbara Ann Black, Maria Black, Glenda Gooden; one son – Otis Cook Black; one grandson – Gabrielle Gooden; one great-granddaughter – Tianna Covington; and one auntie – Pearl Santigo.
Gloria had an outgoing personality. She always greeted you with a smile. She loved playing bingo and doing her scratch offs. She loved entertaining her family and friends. She confessed life at an early age in Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister – Velma Jean Japer-Russom of Memphis, TN; one brother - Robert Lee Black, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN; one uncle - Eddie Anderson of Memphis, TN; two sons - Bobby Black and Prince Black of Caruthersville, MO; two beloved stepdaughters – Renee Bates and Mariah Bates of Caruthersville, MO; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She also leaves to cherish special memories, her life-time partner – Bobby Joe Carter.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Chapel. Interment to follow in Morgan Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
