Elva McClendon Obituary

Elva Ray McClendon was born in Caruthersville, Missouri, on May 24, 1948. He was the son of the late Elva Pearson McClendon & Olive Ogle McClendon.

He departed this life at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems on September 29, 2021, at the age of 73.

Elva Ray attended the Caruthersville Schools, graduating in the high school class of 1966.

On February 17, 1968, in Caruthersville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Kerry Lea Hooper. She preceded him in death on February 5, 1990.

On May 1, 1993, at Reelfoot Lake he was united in marriage to Dianne Springer.

Elva Ray was a well known painting contractor for many, many years prior to his retirement.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed deer hunting. Elva Ray loved bragging on his grandchildren, enjoyed his winters in Florida with Dianne and spending time with his friends at Baker's & The Roundhouse.

He is survived by his wife: Dianne McClendon of Caruthersville, Missouri; two sons: Mark McClendon (Amy) of Kennett, Missouri, & Casey McClendon (Karen) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three grandchildren: Pearson McClendon (Hannah) of Manilla, Arkansas, Addy McClendon of Kennett, Missouri, & Isla McClendon of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and a number of other relatives & many, many friends.

Funeral services were held October 3rd, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with James Powell officiating. Interment in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens.

Pall bearers were Ben Baker, James Mott, B.J. Gatewood, Glen Henson, Buster Pylate, and George A. Michie.
