Dorothy Louise Bowens Versey was born October 29, 1946 in Caruthersville, Missouri to the late Myrtle and Lewis Bowens, Sr.
Three brothers: Lee Junior, Jackie Bowens, Lewis Bowens, Jr. and one sister: Lorrine Bowens preceded her in death.
Dorothy confessed a Hope in Christ at an early age.
She attended Washington High School, MCCC, and Southeast Missouri State. She received multiple certifications in Drug Counseling. She stood proud of her education.
Her work history: Stapleton Center in Hayti, Missouri, Caruthersville Head Start, Caruthersville Nursing Home, River Oaks Nursing Home in Steele, Missouri, substitute teaching in Caruthersville Public School System. She also enjoyed sewing and traveling.
She departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2019.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five sons- Anthony (Charla) Bowens, Johnny Bowens, Joseph (Connie) Bownes, Lamoines (Nicole) Bowens, Kevin Bowens
One daughter – Joyce Houston
Two brothers – Esker Bowens, Joe Willie Bowens.
17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. An honorary sister – Demethers Truss and family. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
