Dorothy Jane Hicks Hardesty, affectionately known as ‘Dort,’ passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Collierville, Tennessee.
Born and raised in Cottonwood Point, Missouri, Dorothy was the daughter of J.W. and Ellen Hicks. She attended Caruthersville High School and was known for her strong work ethic throughout her life. Dorothy worked at the shoe factory, ASCS/FSA Office, BUNGE, MISSCO Implement Company in Blytheville, AR, and Don Medlin Company in Caruthersville, where she built many lasting friendships over the years.
Dorothy cherished her family above all else. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion touched the lives of all who knew her. Her warm smile, caring heart, and gentle spirit will be remembered and treasured by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Ellen Hicks, brother Michael Ray Hicks, and husband David Hardesty.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Maurice Hundhausen and his fiancé Jill Garcia of Oakland, Tennessee; Angela Hundhausen of Fulshear, Texas; and Ashley and Shawn Lannen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; her sister, Clara Ellen Williams of Hernando, MS; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Dorothy’s life was a testament to the importance of family, hard work, and compassion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Dorothy was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Baptist Church with Brother David House officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Cottonwood Baptist Church.
