Deborah Cowles Obituary

Debbie Cowles was born in Kennett, MO, on December 4, 1950. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Frances Crawford of Caruthersville. She was reunited with her Lord and her parents on March 23, 2021, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She was 70 years old.

Debbie graduated from Caruthersville High School in 1969.

On June 5, 1970, Debbie was married to Robert Cowles at the Central Church of Christ. Her love and devotion for Bob for the last 50 years are awe inspiring. It is amazing the effect that one life can have. Because of her, her husband Bob would become a Christian and later a minister. During his over 43 years preaching, Bob has brought countless souls to the gospel of Jesus. This all began because of Debbie. Debbie was the most wonderful mother and grandmother that Rob and Clara and Charlotte could ask for. Debbie was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, relative, friend, and faithful servant of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters, and her brothers and sisters in Christ.

She was a member of the Norwood Church of Christ in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she served as the preacher's wife, church secretary, and faithful church member for forty years. She meant so much to her Norwood Church Family who will miss her so very much.

She was preceded in death by her father: Kenneth Crawford; mother: Frances Crawford; sister: Carolyn Fisher; and brother: Mike Crawford.

Debbie is survived by her husband: Robert Cowles; her son: Rob Cowles; granddaughters: Clara and Charlotte Cowles; sisters: Sharon Thomas (Ronnie) & Mary Ellen Henard (Gary); nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and relatives & friends.

Debbie was the epitome of kindness and class. She made a difference in so many lives. Her love for her Lord, family, and church family is something that is truly inspiring. The Bible says, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

A memorial service for Debbie was held at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville, Missouri, on May 22nd, 2021, at 2 P.M. with Jerry Culbertson officiating.
