Debbie Jean Liggett was born in Paragould, Arkansas, on December 24, 1959. She was the daughter of Mr. Obine Lackey and Dorothy Gill Lackey.
She departed this life at Sikeston, Missouri, on August 24, 2025. She was 65 years old.
Debbie loved people. She was always able to see the good in others and was always a friend to those in need. She always wanted to make sure that people knew about the love of Jesus Christ.
She enjoyed collecting roosters. She was a good cook and was especially known for white beans with cornbread.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother: Dorothy Lackey of Caruthersville, MO; one son: Matt Wimberley of Caruthersville, MO; one daughter: Joni Wimberley of Sikeston, MO; one brother: Tony Lackey of Morley, MO; four grandchildren: Jacinda Sides, Ja'Shan Leech, Devin Wimberley, and Levi Wimberley; and other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Shane O'Guin officiating.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home in charge of services.
