David Wayne McCaig was born June 2, 1961, in Hayti, Missouri. He was the son of Oscar McCarver and Maudie Singleton Simpson.
He departed this life in Caruthersville, Missouri, on February 18, 2021. He was 59 years old.
David was a man that loved life. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved working on cars and racing cars. His race car was "Sweet 16." Jerry Carr was his racing buddy, best friend and cousin. Another favorite activity was watching wrestling.
On January 11, 2021, in Caruthersville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Melanie Smith.
Survived by - his wife - Melanie McCaig
Children - David Wayne Smith and his wife, Samantha
And step children - Trevor Smith and his wife,Becca, Josh Emery, Mallory Emery, Casey Patrick
A special brother - Roy Herron and two sisters - Donna McCormick and Becky Aydelott and several other siblings.
A number of grandchildren and step grandchildren
And a very special friend - Jimmy Leek.
Many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step son - Jerry Lynn Carr, Jr., and a wife - Adela Hall-McCaig.
Funeral services were held Feb. 25, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the H. S. Smith Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Rev. Richard Lee officiating. Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
