Danny Dewayne Pendergrass was born September 8, 1950, at Cottonwood Point, Missouri. He was the son of Albert Pendergrass & Delphine Williams Pendergrass.
He departed this life in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on October 3, 2021. He was 71 years old.
Danny graduated from South Pemiscot High School with the class of 1968. On August 18, 1970, Danny was drafted into the United States Army. He went to basic training for 8 weeks in Fort Polk, Louisiana, and then on to advanced individual training at Fort Harrison, Indiana. Danny then went to Germany and attained the rank of Sergeant, where he served his country proudly.
On May 17, 2002, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was united in marriage to Ellen Joiner.
Danny enjoyed life. He loved playing cards with his friends and lots of stories were told during card time. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Danny enjoyed deer and dove hunting with his brothers. He was a man that valued and treasured his family and the time they spent together.
He attended the Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by his wife: Ellen Pendergrass of Caruthersville, Missouri; two daughters: Jamie Coppage (Eric) of Caruthersville, Missouri, & Dana (Mark) Lunbeck of Portageville, Missouri; two brothers: Jerry (Barbara) Pendergrass of Marston, Missouri, & Floyd “Knuck” (Jan) of Caruthersville, Missouri; four sisters: Rhonda (Jimmy) Graham of Caruthersville, Missouri, Cheryl (Rondall) Swindle of Caruthersville, Missouri, Melinda (Clay) Morgan of Caruthersville, Missouri, & Kim (Jerry) Pylate of Caruthersville, Missouri; five grandchildren: Statyn Coppage, Caroline Hicks, Payson Lunbeck, Mason Lunbeck, & Greyson Lunbeck; and other nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Delphine Pendergrass.
Funeral services were held October 6th, 2021, in the H.S. Smith Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Interment in Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri.
Pall bearers were Rondall Swindle, Jerry Pylate, Clay Morgan, Jimmy Graham, Darryl Gooms, Brandon Swindle and Brian Pendergrass.
