Cynthia Loretta Wells Barnes was born on November 24, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She was the daughter of A.C. Wells and Loretta Sherwood Wells.
She departed this life at her home in Marion, Arkansas, surrounded by her family, on May 16, 2024. She was 74 years old.
Cindy was united in marriage to Danny Barnes on August 22, 1969, in Caruthersville, Missouri. They celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Cindy loved family but especially loved being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She shared a love of Marvel movies and Harry Potter with them. She attended many baseball and softball games they were involved in. She also took great pleasure in raising beautiful flowers. She also loved reading.
She is survived by her husband: Dan Barnes; one daughter: Angela (Stephen) Powers; one son: Andrew (Amber) Barnes; two brothers: Larry Wells and Mark Wells; nine grandchildren: Bayleigh, Allyson, Haley (Clinton), Alyssa, Drake (Madison), Emily, Ana, Gracie (Tyler) and Jaxon; three great grandchildren: Josephine, Ezekiel, and Delilah; a very special cousin that was as close as a sister: Donna Brooks; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother – Christopher Wells.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Pastor Mike Seale officiating. Interment to follow in Maple Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm.
