Clemmie was born in Yalobusha, Mississippi. He was the son of Sell Covington and Arverdia Carter Covington.
Clemmie leaves to mourn his passing his children - Clemmie Jones, Jr., of Georgia, Demetria Jones-Smith of Tennessee, Zola Newbern of Kentucky, LeSia Dawson (Roosevelt) of Kentucky, Stephen Covington (Kenyetta) of New Jersey, Ray Jones (Cecelia) of Kentucky, Ineal Wilson (Donald) of Alabama, Kenneth Jones (Sanetta) of Tennessee, Vickie Jones of Tennessee, Clarence Jarvis of Missouri, Maurice Jarvis of Missouri, Tracy Ricks of Tennessee, Marilynn Robinson (Paul) of North Carolina, Clemmie Lane of Missouri, Jimmy Lane of Missouri
Also mourning are his four brothers: Edward, Jerry, Sell and Lee; three sisters: Lettie Jean, Hattie Ruth, and Annie Ruth; and lots of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Preceeding him in death are his parents; a son: Tony Covington; two sisters: Jackie & Dorothy; and one brother: Lewis.
Funeral services held September 4, 2022, at 11:30 in the H. S. Smith Chapel with interment in Morgan Ridge Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri.
