Betty Lou Fox, 90, of Caruthersville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on her 90th birthday, September 30, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1935, in Finley, Tennessee, to the late Theodore Roosevelt Wheeler and Liza Lucindy Wheeler (née Bishop).
Betty was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gideon Wilson “G.W.” Fox, on January 10, 1953. They shared 67 devoted years together until his passing on April 6, 2020. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter.
She was a devoted mother to two daughters, Cindy Fox (Woody) Sigmin and Gaye Fox, and a proud grandmother to Brooke Fox Sarrio (Joe), Austin Wade Malone (Brittney), and Lindsay Fox Murphy (Sean). Betty especially cherished her role as “Nana” to her eight great-grandchildren: Lucy, Charlie, and Grace Sarrio; Mattie Malone; and Sarah, Liza, Easton, and McCartney Murphy.
Known for her elaborate holiday yard decorations and her chocolate pie, Betty was a steady presence whose love touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, and the joy of family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her five siblings Clifton Wheeler, Dorothy Brown, Annie Lux, Sue Culp, and Joyce Simmons, her brother-in-law Billy “Bill” Glisson Simmons, and nephew Brad Simmons.
