Benna Johnson Obituary

Benna Kay Johnson was born December 17, 1941 in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Benjamin F. Slaten and Frances M. Mullis Slaten.

She departed this life at her home in Caruthersville, Missouri on July 22, 2018. She was 76 years old.

Benna Kay was united in marriage to Mr. Kenneth Paul Johnson in January of 1959 in Sikeston, Missouri. They celebrated 59 years of marriage.

She had many hobbies that included collecting figurines such as clowns, roosters and angels. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, and going shopping. When it was time for coffee it also meant having a cookie with it. After coffee time, you would always find her with a Diet Coke.

In addition to these hobbies, her most important activity was spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Central church of Christ.

Survived by - her husband - Paul Johnson - Caruthersville, MO

2 daughters - Lisa Kay Johnson and Paula Jean Hollis - both of Caruthersville, MO

2 brothers - Mack Slaten - Sikeston, MO

6 grandchildren - Stephanie Sherrill, Kimberly Sherrill, Ricky Joe Ledbetter, Danny Paul Medlin, Anna Medlin, Taylor Hollis

15 great grandchildren

Other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents - Benjamin and Frances Slaten, and a sister - Jenny Mosley.

Funeral services were held July 25 at the Central church of Christ with Brother Mike McDaniel officiating. Interment was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
