Alvin Edward Barnes

Alvin Edward Barnes was born June 16, 1934, in Caruthersville, Missouri.  He was the son of Floyd Barnes and Emma Rose Roberts. 

He departed this life at his home in Caruthersville with his family by his side.  He was 90 years old.

Eddie proudly served his county in the United States Marine Corp. 

On June 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Peggy Phillips.  They celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Eddie was a very successful businessman.  He worked as a supervisor for the Caruthersville Shipyard.  He was a boat pilot for many years.  His carpenter skills were outstanding, and he used them often in his rental business. 

He was a devoted member of Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Peggy Barnes; one daughter: Kathy Ballentine; one sister: Mary Gonzalez; two grandsons: T.J. Ballentine & Zachary Ballentine; one great granddaughter: Ella Elizabeth Ballentine; three nieces: Gail Little, Lynn Riney & Melodee Barney; one nephew: Cecil Barnes; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister – Velma Evans, and two brothers – Willard Barnes & Harold Barnes, and a niece – Beverly Ballant.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Chapel with Brother Gary Mann officiating.  Interment will follow in Little Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 on Friday.
