Kim David Hunt was born October 7, 1955, in Toronto, Ontario. He was the son of Paul David Hunt and Rita Valeire Smith Hunt.
He departed this life at his home in Caruthersville, Missouri, on March 20, 2024. He was 68 years old.
Kim was born into a very artistic family. His father was a commercial artist, and his mother was a professional musician. Kim and his two brothers, also became professional musicians.
Kim received a degree in music and also a teaching degree. He taught music at Humber College and also traveled the world showcasing his compositions with his bands. He spent two years in Denmark holding music clinics. He conducted both the Kim D. Hunt Big Band and the KDH Little Band.
On February 7, 2010, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Elizabeth Pritchard in Dyersburg, Tennessee. After moving to Pemiscot County, Missouri, he continued to arrange original compositions for other artists.
He is survived by his wife: Becki Pritchard of Caruthersville, Missouri; two sisters: Dorothy Abbott and Phyllis Bassett, both of Toronto, Ontario; one brother: Eugene Smith of Vancouver, Canada; three daughters: Laurinda Thrasher and Melanie Speidel, both of Caruthersville, MO, and Nicki Collins of Sikeston, Missouri; and other relatives and many friends from all over the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother – Ross Paul Hunt, and a son – Chance Pritchard.
